I must have been a bit tired after the mountaineering of the previous day because I didn’t wake up until after 7.30am. It was the sensation of being cooked as the sun hit my tent that finally got me up.
I’m ahead of schedule and because I’m booked into Skiddaw hostel tomorrow on the presumption of being drenched by now,I have 2 short days ahead. Probably not a bad thing, and it means I can become a tourist for an afternoon in Keswick.
Lots of lakeside walking on motorway width paths along Derwent Water this time.More views back at the fells I’ve left behind.
Derwent Water is beautifully wooded,so pleasant to walk along when the sun is hot.
There was a slight breeze today,so no nasty flying biting insects which I fear to say are becoming more apparent. Lots of low flying from the RAF though.
I approve of the local council coming up with ideas like this.
I stopped for a ‘take away’ coffee at a rather smart hotel, and sitting in their beautiful gardens made the most of more free WiFi.
Then on to the town and the campsite right on the shore of the lake. I rather love the Camping and Caravan Club. They deliberately let me queue jump the very long line of caravans etc waiting to check in, and provided a backpackers room with microwave and seating. Well done to them.
A tent with a view. No, the tide’s not out. The water level is very low.
Not sure about the town though. Apparently today was a quiet day.
